Make "Teeth " your New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year Everybody. Lets try to make this year the year for your teeth. Many of you years in the past come in for your examination and get overwhelmed with the treatment you need to have done. This year lets not make that the case. Your dentist can prioritise the treatment you need and make it affordable. I tell my patients to make a goal for each quarter of the year. We start on a quadrant of teeth that need improving and make that a goal for the first quarter. This makes it affordable and it will save you money by you getting it done, and in you getting to the point where you just need cleanings.
With the New Year make sure all of you bring in your insurance information because some of you have changes and the staff can tell you better what your responsibilities will be. We want to make sure we use your insurance every year so you get the maximum benefit and less out of your pocket. You all know from my previous blogs that clean teeth will also help you keep a clean heart. Lets put teeth on your list for this year.
Bye for now.

Dental Gift Cards

With the holidays approaching and everybody you know has everything they need; and they are hard to buy for. Start thinking in terms of there dental health. Wouldn't it be nice if you gave a gift that really helps a persons health. I would have loved a gift of a dental gift card. This money could be used to pay for the badly needed treatment I need. This money could be used to buy that electric tooth brush that is 57% better than by hand. We always put off the dental treatment we need since we think it is not hurting. When getting a dental gift card you can get the treatment that you have been procrastinating about. You can avoid waiting and then having to spend more because you now need a root canal.
This year you can call my office and we can get a gift card out to you for that treatment. You always need a cleaning and that gift card will help with that. Even you people with dental insurance which is great have a co-pay . So this season when you think of buying someone a gift think of a dental Gift card. They will appreciate you did.

Be True to Your Teeth or They Will Be False to You

Just like taking care of other body parts you need to take care of your teeth also. You need to give your teeth the care and preventive maintenance they require or they will be false to you. Ask yourself a question. Do you want to have false teeth? Do you want to take teeth out unnecessarily? Do you want to walk around with a hunk of plastic in your mouth that doesn't allow you to taste your food? If you answered No to all these, then you better start coming in to your dentist and get the necessary cleanings , whitening, veneers, and crowns you deserve to maintain that dentition. If you say nothing hurts, that is good; but we want to keep it that way so you do not end up with dentures or partials. The way dentistry is today with all the advances , you can keep your teeth your whole lifetime. No question. Don't put off the flossing and brushing with the electric tooth brush either. Your teeth deserve it, and so do you.

Dental and Heart health by Toothbrushing

Tooth brushing as you know is so important for your teeth, but now we are finding out it is also important for your heart. Tooth brushing should be done three times a day and you should floss before you brush. Tooth brushing done with an electric sonic tooth brush has been shown to be approximately 60 % better than by hand. The sonic tooth brushes like the one I recommend "Sonicare" are the best. Tooth brushing removes the plaque build up that harbor the bacteria that is also bad for your heart. You also should get your teeth professionally cleaned by your hygienist so she can go under the tissue and remove any plaque or tarter build up that might have occurred since your last cleaning. I also recommend to my patients using a antibacterial rinse after brushing at least at bed time to prevent plaque formation and keep your teeth and heart healthy. I like recommending Listerine total care. This has the antibacterial and
Electric tooth brushing is good for your children as well. They can start with a crest spin brush pro when you think they are able . You will see this as a great benefit.

Pediatric(Child) Dentistry - best way to your childrens dental health.

As a dentist who does pediatric patients I had a friend of mine want to know some basic questions. The way I instruct my adults to help them with getting there children to the dentist is bring them with you and have them watch you the adult get their teeth cleaned. You should bring your child in starting around 3 years old. You as a parent should brush your children's teeth as soon as they get them watching that they rinse and expectorate. As a dentist who does children in my practice I also remind my parents that if your child falls and injures a tooth get them seen right away. If they fall and a tooth gets knocked out and it is a permanent tooth, place the tooth in milk and get to a dentist or my office right away. You can get referrals from "Orlando Pediatric Dentist" as well.
As for tooth paste , you should have your child use fluoridated tooth paste as soon as you feel he can expectorate and not swallow it. Your child should also start using Listerine's smart fluoride rinse for children. You as a parent should brush your children's teeth and then they should do it. When your child is old enough switch them to a electric tooth brush because it is 60% better than by hand.
Next blog more on brushing.
